Retired Adult Awards
There are many awards that have been retired or discontinued over the years. If you look around at your fellow Scouters, especially at events like roundtable, you will see others wearing some knots you don’t recognize. Most retired knots aren’t gone but have been consolidated into a single knot with a device worn for each level. The Den leader award for example is one such knot.
All the awards listed below are discontinued and can no longer be earned.
Achievement Awards

Explorer Gold Award – Also Explorer Achievement Award

Venturing Silver Award – Worn by Adults and Youth who have earned the Venturing Silver Award.
Replaced by the Venturing Summit Award
Leadership & Training Awards

Tiger Den Leader Award – Worn by Adults that have completed one year of tenure as a Tiger Den Leader.
Replaced by Den Leader Training Award.

Cub Scout Den Leader Award – Worn by Adults that have completed one year of tenure as a Cub Scout Den Leader (Wolf & Bear).
Replaced by Den Leader Training Award.

Webelos Den Leader Award – Worn by Adults that have completed one year of tenure as a Webelos Den Leader.
Replaced by Den Leader Training Award.

Den Leader Coach Award – Worn by Adults that have completed one year of tenure as a Den Leader Coach.
Replaced by Scouter’s Training Award.

Cubmaster Award – Worn by Adults that have completed one year of tenure as a Cubmaster.
Replaced by Cubmaster’s Key Award.

Pack Trainer Award – Worn by Adults that have completed one year of tenure as a Pack Trainer.
Replaced by Scouter’s Training Award.

Cub Scouter Award – Worn by Adults that have completed one year of tenure as a Cub Scout Leader.
Replaced by Scouter’s Training Award.

Scoutmaster/Coach/Advisor Award of Merit – Worn by Adults that have completed one year of tenure as a A Scoutmaster, Varsity Team Coach or Venturing Crew Advisor.
Replaced by Unit Leader’s Award of Merit
Honor Awards for Outstanding Service

Whitney Young Jr. Award – Presented for promoting Scouting in the poorest areas of the country.
Replaced by Scouting Service Award

Premio por Servicio ¡Scouting…Vale la Pena! Service Award – Presented to recognize outstanding services by an adult individual or an organization for demonstrated involvement in the development and implementation of Scouting opportunities for Hispanic American/Latino youth

Asian American Spirit of Scouting Service Award – Presented to recognize outstanding services by an adult individual or an organization for demonstrated involvement in the development and implementation of Scouting opportunities for Asian American youth.

William T. Hornaday Award – Recognizes Scouts, Explorers and Scouters for conservation and ecology efforts in their communities.
